How I Can Help
I help clients and their loved ones find the healthcare providers best suited to their medical needs and to the manner in which they are comfortable interacting with doctors and other professionals. I attend appointments to ensure the right questions are asked and the client understands the diagnosis and treatment plan. I take notes to convey information to all members of the client's healthcare team and to family members as authorized by the patient. I also offer in-patient monitoring in hospitals or other facilities, My as-needed support services include health research and handling insurance matters.

Why I Became A Professional Health Care Advocate
I am a communicator and a connector. Those skills were an asset in my journalism career, and they are an asset in my patient advocacy career.
After decades of working as a reporter and editor in the business press, I decided to use my journalistic talents for a worthy cause. I began volunteering on the HelpLine of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, offering callers information, resources and support. It was there that I learned about patient advocacy and saw the need for it.
The healthcare world is familiar to me, as my late father was a physician, and my two brothers and numerous other family members also are doctors. My father left an example to his children and grandchildren of quality, compassionate care. Because my husband and I are not physicians, I see the healthcare system from the patient side as well. I can relate to the questions and concerns of my clients.
My areas of focus are geriatric care and mental health. I put my heart into helping clients attain the best possible outcomes, reach their health goals, respect their priorities and values, and maintain quality of life.
